Agoo is a town in La Union. It has extensive beaches, a nature reserve and a Roman Catholic pilgrimage site and is one of the main entryways to Baguio.
Understand
[edit]Agoo is one of the oldest settlements in La Union, having existed in the precolonial era as a coastal trading post for Chinese, Japanese, Ilocano and Cordilleran traders. It was conquered by the Spanish in 1572. Agoo further prospered with the construction of the Marcos Highway leading to Baguio in the 1970s.
Get in
[edit]Agoo is along Route 2 (Manila North Road). It is also the terminus of Marcos Highway (Aspiras–Palispis Highway, Route 208) which leads to Baguio. Buses ply both highways.
Get around
[edit]Tricycles are the main form of transportation in town, particularly as downtown Agoo is further inland from the coast.
