[edit]Formerly a farming and mill town, modern Amesbury is for the most part residential. It is one of two northernmost towns in Massachusetts, the other being neighboring Salisbury.

[edit]There are daily buses from Haverhill and from Salisbury via Newburyport. Buses stops at 1 Nicholas J. Costello Transportation Center, which is just a few hundred meters from Main street.
