Anseong (Korean: 안성; Korean pronunciation: [an.sʌŋ]) is a city in Gyeonggi-do Province, South Korea, 80 km (50 mi) south of Seoul. Anseong promotes itself as "The City of Masters". It is known for producing brassware and arts and crafts. The agriculture of Anseong is centered around Asian pears, grapes, ginseng, and rice, while Hanwoo is considered to be the most famous and high-quality.

Anseong is the center of all traffic in Korea. It is connected to all highways in the country, and there are nine interchanges, the most in South Korea.
The pronoun AnseongMachum ("Anseong Perfect") is a word that was born from Anseong Yugi. AnseongPyeongya (Anseong Plain), Anseongcheon (Anseong River), Anseong Line (Train) sare this name. (The railway was closed in 1990, and it is to be revived in 2028–2032.)

The wind is an area affected by the seasonal wind like all of Korea. The seasonal wind in winter is mainly the northwest seasonal wind that blows from the continental side, which is characterized by being very cold and dry, bringing clear weather, while accompanied by severe cold.
Modern history
[edit]In 1963, Gosam town of Yongin was incorporated by Anseong, which was still a county at the time. In 1998, Anseong was upgraded from county to city status.
It borders Pyeongtaek to the west, Yongin to the north, Icheon and Eumseong-gun to the east, and Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province and Jincheon-gun, North Chungcheong Province to the south. It is located in the southernmost part of Gyeonggi Province and is adjacent to Chungcheong Province along with Pyeongtaek, so it serves as a gateway to the rest of the country. For this reason, in the past, it was counted as one of three major commercial centers in Korea with Daegu and Jeonju. At that time, Anseong was a bustling city. In particular, the 5-day market held on the 2nd and 7th of every month was one of the three largest markets in Joseon.

[edit]- 1 Geumgwang Lake (금광호수), Ohheung-ri, Geumgwang-myeon. Fishing is also famous in 'Geumgwang Lake' in Anseong, but the Dulegil "Park Doo-jin Literature Road," which is named after Park Doo-jin, a Cheongnokpa poet from Anseong, is also a must-have. - 2 Mt. Goseong (고성산), Chilgok-ri, Wongok-myeon ((Mountain 47-1 Deokbong-ri, Yangseong-myeon)). Mt. Goseong (298 m) has a beautiful hiking course from 'Manse Pass' to 'Unsuam'. 'Unsuam' is a temple that was built in the 26th year of King Yeongjo's reign in the Joseon Dynasty. When you reach the top of Mt. Goseong, you can see the wide field of the Anseong Yangseong area and the plain that extends to Pyeongtaek.
- 3 Gosam Lake (고삼호수), 679 Bongsan-ri, Gosam-myeon, ☏ 031-673-9771. Gosam Lake is also known as a sunrise spot, but the foggy appearance at dawn is a place that gives you a dreamy and lyrical sense of mystery. From the observation deck installed by the lake, it is good to see the sunrise here and to see the scenery of the lake and its surroundings. Seowoon(547.4 m), one of the eight scenic views of Anseong, is located on the border between Anseong City in Gyeonggi Province and Jincheon County in North Chungcheong Province. It is said to be Mt. Seowoon because you saw a blue dragon climb down Seowoon-myeon. The ridge is smooth and the mountain has a gentle slope. From the top of Mt. Seowoon, you can see Anseong City such as Gongdo-eup, Jinryeongbong Peak, and Anseong City Hall at a glance. Free.
- 5 Chiljangsa (칠장사), 399-18 Chiljang-ro, Juksan-myeon, ☏ 031-673-0776. It is said that 'Chiljangsa' was founded by Jajilyulsa in the 5th year of Queen Seondeok of Silla, and Hyeso State Temple was promoted as the king's name in the 5th year of King Hyeonjong (1014) of the Goryeo Dynasty, and the names Chiljangsa and Chilhyeonsan Mountain originated from the story that Hyeso State Temple stayed here and educated seven musicians to make them wise.
In the 9th year (1383) of King Wu of Goryeo, the historical records of Goryeo Dynasty in Gaecheonsa Temple in Chungju were transferred here due to the invasion of Japanese pirates, which was an important temple in the Gyogye at that time. - 6 Shrine Hall of the Guesthouse of the Anseong Local Government (안성객사), 203 General Stadium-ro, Bogae-myeon (238-1 Yangbok-ri), ☏ 031-677-1330. 'Shrine Hall of the Guesthouse of the Anseong Local Government' is a Guesthouse built before 1363.
