Understand
[edit]Assinie sits on the mouth of the Aby Lagoon. Immediately across from the town there is a narrow peninsula called La Passe, filled with luxury villas and high-rise resorts. Touristy, yes, but they are lovely beaches. On the other side of Assinie, within the lagoon, it is more charming. There the houses are built of wood and straw and occupied by fishermen who live between the lagoon and the sea. Most of this area is part of the Îles Ehotilé National Park.
Get in
[edit]From Abidjan by road, take A100 going east, then turn right to the B-107 road to Assouindé. At Assouindé curve left on the Route Assinie-Mafia. This road will take you the rest of the way to the town.
If you want to access La Passe, instead of curving left at Assouindé, take the bridge to the right and then turn left on to Piste Assouindé which takes you down the peninsuala.
