[edit]Just a few km outside of Attock city lies the small community of Attock Khurd (Little Attock). Sometimes called "the Gateway to Central Asia", this small town boasts the remains of a 16th-century fort, built by Akhbar the Great to protect passage of the Indus. The "Old Attock Bridge" over the river is one of the most strategic and commercial crossings on the Indus river between Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces.
