Bambang is a town in Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines. It is the one of the three main economic centers of the province along with Solano and Bayombong.
Understand
[edit]Bambang was founded by the Spanish in the 18th century along the banks of the Magat River following the relocation of indigenous peoples of different ethnicities from surrounding villages. It has since prospered as a university and market town for southern Nueva Vizcaya and is at a key junction for roads branching out to the rest of the region's towns, particularly the citrus-producing areas of Kasibu, and the vegetable-growing towns of Kayapa, Aritao and Dupax.
Get in
[edit]Bambang lies along the Maharlika Highway, formally known as the Pan-Philippine or Asian Highway (AH 26) and the primary thoroughfare for buses from Metro Manila. It is also the terminus of a branch line of the Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya Road from Baguio, which is served by infrequent passenger vans.
The intermunicipal jeepney service that runs through the main towns of Nueva Vizcaya also passes through Bambang.
Get around
[edit]Driving in downtown Bambang during daytime requires knowledge of the inner roads, as the two-lane Maharlika Highway is heavily congested. A road bypassing downtown traffic was built in 2024 from Barangay Calaocan to Macate, but has been indefinitely closed after parts of the road were washed out by floods from the Magat River during a typhoon a few months after it opened.
Tricycles are the most common transport between barangays, but due to uneven terrain, an SUV or any 4WD is recommended.
