Bangui (pronounced bang-GEE) is a municipality of 15,000 in the far northern end of the province of Ilocos Norte in the Philippines. It is primarily known for its wind turbines that face the coast.

[edit]Bangui is about 550 km (340 mi) from Manila and 65 km (40 mi) from Laoag, along the Maharlika Highway (Rte 1/AH26). It is served by buses running Manila-Pagudpud and Laoag-Tuguegarao.

[edit]- 1 Bangui Wind Farm (Bangui Windmills). Constructed in 2003 and opened in 2005, this is the first wind farm in the Philippines. Even after the Burgos and Caparispisan wind farms were completed, the Bangui wind farms remain the main tourist attraction in its region.
- 2 Sentinela Hill, C. Torres Street, Barangay San Lorenzo. During the Spanish era, a redbrick watchtower was placed on top of the hill as a lighthouse and watchtower against marauding Moro pirates, hence the hill's name. The watchtower has been carefully preserved.
