Barpali is an upcoming town in the Bargarh district of Odisha. It is located 22 km south of Bargarh. For over a century it happens to be the cultural centre of Western Odisha, India. It was the village where the greatest Oriya poet swabhaba kabi Gangadhar Meher had taken birth. Over the time Barpali proved to be an ikat hub of the world. Locally ikat handloom fabrics are called "bandha" and done by two community of weavers called Bhulia and Kusta. Agriculture is its prime economy. Peddy is cultivated twice a year.
