Bellata is a small town of 270 (2021) in the Northern Tablelands region of New South Wales. It sits along the Newell Highway which forms part of the main corridor between Melbourne and Brisbane, and the Moree XPL line.

Bellata is on the A39 Newell Highway. It is 37 km (23 mi) south of Moree, 19 km (12 mi) north of Edgeroi and 47 km (29 mi) north of Narrabri. The road is mostly in good condition with wide centrelines and regular overtaking lanes, though do be aware that a lot of road trains use this route.

Note: There is a significant amount of interstate drug smuggling along the A39 Newell Highway; Moree Highway Patrol (HWP) are notorious for cracking down on this and routinely do roadside drug testing and RBT. HWP may also search your vehicle if they suspect drug possession. Bellata is within Moree HWP's catchment area. Other than drug possession, Moree HWP is also notorious for cracking down on other road offences like speeding – don't exceed 110 km/h (68 mph), especially all the more on this highway.

The Moree XPL service stops at -29.9156149.79041 Bellata Station on request (they will not stop if no one books on), with one service from Moree and Sydney each day. The Sydney-bound service from Moree arrives at 8:36AM while the Moree-bound service from Sydney arrives at 5:23PM.

There are no more hotels nor motels in Bellata. The Nandewar Inn Hotel was destroyed by a fire in 2006.
