Binangonan is a town in the province of Rizal, Philippines. At the boundary between the urban conurbation extending from Metro Manila and the rural towns of eastern Rizal, it has posh hillside resorts, chronically snarled highways, heritage buildings and hiking paradises within its boundaries.
Understand
[edit]Binangonan is situated at the end of a narrow coastal plain that includes Cainta, Taytay and Angono. Hemmed in by the Sierra Madre and Laguna de Bay, it is the easternmost outpost of the urban sprawl that extends from Metro Manila, with the Morong Peninsula, a spur of the Sierra Madre, forming its eastern boundary with Cardona and other rural towns of Rizal province.
Binangonan also occupies the majority of Talim, an island in the middle of Laguna de Bay that it shares with Cardona. Unlike mainland Binangonan, Talim is rural and relies primarily on the fishing industry.
Get in
[edit]Binangonan is traversed by Manila East Road, the main transport artery in lakeside Rizal.
There are jeepneys running from Cubao in Quezon City and Starmall in Mandaluyong to Binangonan. The jeepneys from Quezon City usually pass through Felix Avenue in Marikina or Antipolo before joining Manila East Road, while those from Starmall use Manila East Road and pass through Cainta, Taytay and Angono. Jeepneys heading to Cardona and beyond stick to Manila East Road and bypass downtown Binangonan.
Get around
[edit]The main thoroughfares in Binangonan are Manila East Road, J.P. Rizal Avenue and Baltazar Street, which form a rough triangle containing much of downtown Binangonan, alongside barangays Libis and Libid to the south, which comprise the old town and where the parish church and public market are located.
Tricycles are the main form of transport between barangays. Fares start at P20.

- 4 Punta del Diablo, Pila-Pila (accessible only by boat). A rocky 100 metres (330 ft) promontory stretching into Laguna de Bay, named as such because it was said by folk legends to have been made by the Devil in a failed bid to woo a local girl.

- 6 Nuestra Señora de los Angeles de Binangonan, Antiporda Street, Pila-Pila. Stay safe
[edit]Landslides in the rainy season and grassfires in the dry season frequently occur in the rural barangays of the Morong Peninsula.
Swimming in Laguna de Bay is not recommended due to pollution, heavy usage by the fishing industry and its volatile mood. In 2023, a ferry from mainland Binangonan to Talim Island was sunk by the lake’s strong waves, killing 27 passengers.
