History

The area was first occupied by the Wurundjeri, Indigenous Australians of the Kulin nation, who spoke variations of the Woiwurrung language group.

In its early days of European settlement, Boronia was predominantly an orchard, flower growing and farming area.

The railway line was built in 1889 passing through Boronia without providing a station. The nearest station was Bayswater until 1920, when a train station was opened in Boronia attracting new residents and tourists, along with the post office also opened in 1920.

Travel from Melbourne takes approximately 1 hour.
