    Bothies are simple shelters found in remote country, within Great Britain, especially within National Parks.

    Bothies are simple shelters which can be stayed in for free, subject to observing a few conditions. They are some distance from other facilities and are often 5 mi (8.0 km) from a public road.

    Many bothies are maintained by the Mountain Bothies Association (MBA), a charity which organises volunteers to do basic maintenance to the bothy structure with the permission of the owner of the bothy.
