    Briatexte is a town in the Tarn department of southern France.

    Briatexte counts 2000 inhabitants (2018).

    The bastide of Briatexte was founded in 1287 by Simon de Briseteste, Seneschal of Carcassonne, on behalf of King Philippe le Bel, on the site of the Cathar village of Les Touelles, which had been razed by the troops of Simon de Montfort in 1212.

    Briatexte is on the Dadou river on the old national road 631 between Giroussens 10 km to the west and Graulhet 6 km to the east. It is 9 km south-west of Lavaur.

    Briatexte has two patisseries, but no restaurant. In Gaillac, La Bodega is a really good restaurant. In Lagrave, try Le Bistoquet.

    There is no hotel or inn, but there is La Maison des Delices in Coufouleux. This home is very warm, and their breakfast is really delicious.

    Or in Rabastens you can see the Castle of Foncoussière or the Résidence La Salamand which is very welcoming too.
