Buchanan is a city in Grand Bassa.
Understand
[edit | edit source]A laid-back city that has a tiny grid-patterned city centre and a beach about 5 km to the south of it. The beach is not maintained. It also has a sizable community of ghanese Fanti-people.
Get in
[edit | edit source]It takes around two hours driving from Monrovia once the sealed road is finished (2012).
Get around
[edit | edit source]See
[edit | edit source]Lumco industrial complex - Industry with a train line to transport iron ore.
Beach - A beach that is no longer maintained that is quite beautiful, but has rough seas. It has an eerie feel to it as the few bamboo huts are collapsing, and the beach is eroding.
Do
[edit | edit source]Not much to do here except drinking or going to the beach. Walking around can be nice (but there is danger of landmines off the beaten paths).
- 1 Doris Williams Stadium.
Buy
[edit | edit source]Eat
[edit | edit source]Drink
[edit | edit source]There is a drinking place on Gardner Street that is fairly busy.
Sleep
[edit | edit source]Teepro Lodge - close to the Buchanan Recyclables office. Rooms have been reported at inconsistent prices, with costs rising between reservation and check-out. Better value can be found at cheaper options on the main thoroughfare.
