    Calabazo, also called Colinas de Calabazo is a village on the Highway 90 in the south of the Tayrona National Park.

    It's a bit cooler than in Santa Marta. A lot of the area is covered by a forest.

    Get in

    There are no ATMs available, so it's better to bring cash.

    The white bus coming from Santa Marta or Palomino drops you off in Calabazo. From Santa Marta it's about COP$7,000 (Sept 2021).

    The area can be explored on foot. On the intersection of the path to coast there are 1 mototaxi drivers.If you want to be picked up at your accommodation, get the whatsapp numbers from some of the drivers beforehand.

    OsmAnd or Mapy.cz cover the area somewhat better than Google Maps, which shows the path to the coast if you zoom in far.

    From the village you can take a mototaxi to the beaches 2 Playa Brava.and 3 Boca de Saco.Both are around 10km away. The entrance fee of the Tayrona National Park is applicable.

    100km in the east of Santa Marta along the Highway there is no ATM. The nearest ones are in Santa Marta. Or you could ask, if somebody withdraws money from your credit card for a percentage fee in the village.

    There are minimarkets available.

    Along the Highway 90 there are local restaurants. For a main dish with a soup and drink it's from COP$12,000 (Sept 2021).

    In the evening there is some street food a long the highway.
