    [edit]

The Chibok people, primarily known as the Kibaku, are an ethnic group in Borno State, Nigeria. They are a blend of various cultures, including Babir/Bura, Kanuri, Kilba, Margi, Shuwa, and Fulani. Historically, they migrated to the Chibok hills from the Kanem-Bornu Empire during its decline in the 19th century, influenced by Islamic jihad and slave raids. The region gained international attention in 2014 when Boko Haram abducted 276 schoolgirls from Chibok, highlighting ongoing security challenges and the impact of violence on education in the area.
