Cotignac Voyage Tips and guide

You can check the original Wikivoyage article Here

Cotignac is in Var in Southeastern France between Marseilles and Nice about 50 km from the Mediterranean Sea. Located on the Cassole river, it provides easy access to Nice, Marseilles, Frejus, Cannes, the Mediterranean Sea, Italy, Aix-en-Provence, and the Roman cities to the west. All are within a day-trip of Cotignac.

    Understand

    [edit]

Cotignac provides very little of the chic fashion scene of Paris or Cannes, but its wine cooperative, artisanal patisseries, craft stores, and surrounding vestiges and vineyards provide the visitor with days of relaxing country living and day-trips to nearby villages and the sea-side.

    Get in

    [edit]

From Marseilles take the autoroute (A8) to the Brignoles exit and go north to the D554 north to the D562 just past Le Val and thence to the D22 into Cotignac. From Nice take the A8 to the D13 exit after Le Luc, and take the D13 north into Cotignac.

    Get around

    [edit]

Visitors to Cotignac do not need a car except to get to and from there from other towns and cities. The town is entirely pedestrian accessible.

    See

    [edit]

Cotignac is a lovely town in which to people-watch or simply enjoy the rustic cafe scene. The spacious town square is some three blocks long and houses the seating of four or five restaurants and cafes under the lush canopy of sycamore trees ("plane trees" according to the locals). The visitor can walk from one end of town to the other in less than 30 minutes (provided he is walking down the mountain not up it.)
