    Understand

    [edit]

The town of Derventa lies on the river Ukrina, and roads lead from it to Brod, Kotorsko (Doboj), Prnjavor (Banja Luka) and Srbac.

People from Derven mostly work in the shoemaking and metalworking industries.

In 2013, its population was 83% Serb, 11% Bosniak, and 3% Croat.

After the war in the 1990s, Derventa was considered the most destroyed area in the former Yugoslavia after Vukovar. Almost the entire municipality was damaged, some buildings were completely destroyed, and production plants were closed. Numerous buildings have been rebuilt in the period from the end of the war until today, but there are still ruins that testify to the great destruction in the Derwent area. Derventa is now one of the most developed municipalities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
