The UNESCO World Heritage Site Funerary Tradition in the Prehistory of Sardinia – The domus de janas, inscribed in 2025, is composed of 27 burial sites around Sardinia.
Understand
[edit]Domus de janas is Sardinian and can mean house of the fairies or house of the witches. These are a type of tombs cut into rock, dating from about 3400 and 2700 BC. On the inside they are usually decorated with different reliefs and etchings, and one recurring element are false doors, commonly engraved on the back wall of the main chamber.
