El Desemboque is a village of almost 300 people (2010) in Sonora south of Puerto Libertad and on the Gulf coast. It is one of the two largest settlements of indigenous Seri in the state, next to nearby Punta Chueca.

[edit]El Desemboque is a small seaside indigenous Seri village that is rarely visited by tourists. Its name comes from being at the mouth of the San Ignacio River, a stream that comes from the Sonoran Desert which is dry most of the year. Its name in the Seri language literally means "where the clams are", and on its shores there are many small clams.
El Desemboque is today a community dedicated mainly to small-scale commercial fishing and the production of artisan products, which constitute its main economic activities
