Due to its location, at a crossroads open to the sea, El Vendrell has historically been a place of passage and meeting point for cultures, commercial exchanges and the dissemination of ideas. This town was the born place to Pablo casals, cellist, composer, and conductor.

Pau Casals, known in English as Pablo Casals, was a cellist, composer, and conductor. He made many recordings throughout his career of solo, chamber, and orchestral music, including some as conductor, but he is perhaps best remembered for the recordings he made of the Cello Suites by Bach. He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1963 by President John F. Kennedy.

[edit]- El Xató:It is a popular dish made with endive, chopped cod, tuna, anchovy fillets, olives and romesco-style sauce.
- The coca enramada: is a bread base with Garnish with spinach, beans, onion and red pepper baked in the oven, and accompanied by sausage or sardines.
- Bufats: sweets made with hazelnuts, sugar and egg white
- Resolis: A brandy liqueur flavoured with anise and cinnamon. It is the perfect liqueur to accompany Bufats.
