[edit]Emmendingen is the capital of the rural district with the same name. It is designed to be a regional center.

[edit]There is a train station with approx. 4 trains an hour going either in direction Freiburg or Offenburg. The train station is fully accessible for wheelchairs.
In 2010 the new bus station was completed which services bus in the Elztal to Waldkirch, Herbolzheim, Freiburg and into the Kaiserstuhl as well as the western slopes of the Black Forest.

[edit]There is a decent public transport system, run by the local power company which servers several inner city lines.
At the tourist information located in the train station you can rent Pedalecs (electric supported bicycles) on daily basis.

[edit]The downtown east of the main station has an attractive pedestrian zone with several churches and a little castle.
