Europa Island is nowhere near Europe. It is a small atoll off East Africa, about halfway between southern Madagascar and southern Mozambique.

A French possession since 1897, this tropical, flat island is a heavily wooded wildlife sanctuary. It is the site of a small military garrison that staffs a weather station.

There is an unpaved airstrip on the island.

There are no ports or harbours, but anchorage is possible offshore.

There is no economic activity on Europa Island.

There is no public accommodation on Europa Island.

There's no way this little rock was going to get the .eu TLD. It's nominally part of France's .fr domain.
