    Fano is a city in Marche. Known as Fanum Fortunae in Roman times, the city today is a fairly well-known coastal resort and one of the most important Adriatic fishing ports. Fano is a tourist destination for those looking for quality of life, with a first rate cultural, historical and environmental heritage, enabling visitors within a distance of a few kilometres to enjoy the sea as well as the delightful hilly inland countryside. The port divides the coast of Fano into two, with Sassonia beach to the east and the sandy Lido to the west. A number of other wide beaches and small bays are to be found along the coast on both sides of the town at Fosso Sejore, Metaurilia, Torrette and provide welcoming natural environments the tourist.

    By plane

    Fano has its own airport. Fano Airport is an airport in Italy (ICAO: LIDF), located 1 km southeast of Fano. The airport is used for general aviation, with no commercial airline service, but is possible to rent an aero taxi. In the airport there are a well known Parachute and Aviation School.

    By train

    There is a 1 railway station. Trains run up and down the coast from Fano, to Pesaro, Rimini and Bologna in the north and Ancona to the south.

    By car

    The A14, a six-lane motorway known as the autostrada adriatica, runs from Bologna to Taranto. The SS 73 bis heads inland towards Rome, Umbria e Toscana.
