Genipabu or Jenipabu is a beach village in Rio Grande do Norte, getting ever more incorporated into Greater Natal, a few kilometres to its south, after the opening of a new bridge in 2009. It is a tourist destination with huge dunes and fresh water lagoons.

    Understand

    [edit]

Famed for shifting sand dunes right on the beach, and accompanying wild ride buggy tours and camel-rides!

    Get in

    [edit]

Can be done as a day-trip from Natal, mostly by buggy.

From the terminus Santa Rita bordering the south end of the beach, there are buses to Natal, some crossing the new bridge (allegedly quicker for Ponta Negra) and others the old upriver.

    • Camel rides
    • Sunset - The dune is also a good spot for watching the sunset.
    • Esquibunda - Slide down large dunes on wooden plates and end in a lagoon. Good way to cool and beat the heat.
