    Green River is a small town in Northeastern Utah.

    The town was first settled in 1876 when a ferry was set up on the East side of the river. In 1883 when a train station was opened, the east side of the river became known as Elgin while the west side of the river was named Greenriver (later changed to Green River). Today the town has a population that hovers around one thousand.

    The town is just off of Interstate 70 and is one of the few areas with services on this stretch of highway.

    Amtrak serves the city via its California Zephyr route between Chicago and Emeryville, in the Bay Area.
