    • Kaaterskill Trolley Co. runs the very congested route of Tannersville, Haines Falls, Palenville, and throughout Kaaterskill Clove down to Palenville. Given that New York State Route 23-A is quite narrow and frequented, legal parking is non-existent during the warm months along the road.

    • 1 North-South Lake, County Route 18, Haines Falls (NE of Haines Falls along North Lake Road), +1 518 589-5058, . 24. An excellent all-around introduction to the Catskills for either day or overnight. Fish, boat and swim in the lakes, or hike the extensive trail system to the ruins of the Catskill Mountain House and the views it made famous. $22 for camping permits; less for day use.
    • 2 Kaaterskill Falls (Southwest of North-South Lake). One of the highest waterfalls of New York state, there is a viewing platform by parking on the Laurel House Trail. Next to the platform there's a small swimming hole off Spruce Creek. It gets very busy in the summer and weekends and parking is limited. Below the viewing platform, several trails are available to the often crowded base of the falls.
    • 3 Thomas Cole House, 218 Spring Street Catskill, NY 12414 (East of the Rip Van Winkle Bridge), 518-9437465, . vary. This National Historic Site preserves and interprets the home, and studios of Thomas Cole, the founder of the Hudson River School of painting. $18 for adults, children free.

    • 2 Hunter Mountain. - Another major ski resort in the Catskills. Exit 20 or 21 off the NY State Thruway.
    • 3 Zoom Flume Water Park. - located in East Durham. Open most days between June 14 – September 1.
