Guanajay is a town and municipality in Havana Province in Western Cuba, about 58 km southwest of Cuba's capital Havana.

[edit]Founded in the 17th century on the banks of the Capellanía river, Guanajay was a weather station for troops who arrived from Spain until it turned into a health resort. Historically an ancient pueblo, it has had economic distribution for sugarcane and tobacco.
