Legend
[edit]Pir Gorachand (পীর গোরাচাঁদ Pīr Gorācānd) was an Islamic preacher who is said to have supernatural powers. He went to Deulia to spread Islam, and requested king Chandraketu to be a Muslim. But the king declined to leave his religion.
So, he went to Hatiagarh to spread Islam. There, he met with Akananda and Bakananda, the two warrior sons of king Mahidananda. Although Gorachand won the fight with the warriors, he got severely injured and needed betel nut, but betel nut was not available in Hatiagarh.
So, he went to Kulti-Bihari and slept there. A cow of a milkman named Kalu Ghosh used to release milk on Gorachand's mouth every day. It was said that if it went on for seven days, he would recover from his illness. But as milkman Kalu Ghosh came to know about this in the seventh day, Gorachand realised that his death was imminent. So, he advised Kalu Ghosh to bury his body in Haroa.
However, Kalu Ghosh was always humiliated by a neighbour for burying a Muslim as a Hindu. So, he killed the neighbour, and he was summoned to the court of sultan Alauddin in Gour. It is said that Pir Gorachand rose from the grave and requested Alauddin to free Kalu Ghosh, and Alauddin let him free after being surprised to see the event. After that, Alauddin built a dargah on the grave.
