[edit]- US Hwy 395 goes 13 mi (21 km) from the town of Umatilla in the south, through town, to I-84 in the south, south of Stanfield as the Umatilla-Stanfield Hwy. It continues north towards Tri-Cities along I-82 and concurrent with I-84 from Stanfield (Exit 179) to Pendleton at Exit 209. Travelers continue northeasterly on US Hwy 395 from Tri-Cities towards I-90 in Ritzville to go towards Spokane.
- Interstate 82 (I-82) begins at Exit 179 of I-84 and runs 135 mi (217 km) to its other end at Exit 110 of I-90, east of Ellensburg. Hermiston can be accessed from 6th St at Exit 1 of I-82 and via Westland Rd from Exit #10. Travelers continue west on I-90 from Ellensburg to go towards Seattle.
- If coming from the east on I-84 (from Boise, Pendleton, Umatilla) Hermiston is accessed via US Hwy 395 at Exit 188 or I-82 at Exit 179. If coming from the west (Portland, The Dalles) one can also exit off at US Hwy 730 () at Exit #168 and go through the towns of Irrigon (US Hwy 730 goes through as Main Ave) and Umatilla (pass through as 6th St) to US Hwy 395 and go south on US Hwy 395 into town.
By bus
[edit]The 1 Pilot Travel Center (truck stop) serves as a de-facto bus station/stop for Greyhound. The local Kayak Public Transit bus makes a stop into the truck stop on its way towards Hermiston or the Umatilla Indian Reservation, east of Pendleton.

The Kayak Public Transit bus shuttles passengers up into town from the truck stop if needed. Nearest station for Amtrak trains is in Pasco.
- Kayak Public Transportation (operated by Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Reservation (CTUIR)), ☏ +1 541 429-7519. Connects Irrigon (Highway 730 & 1st St) to the Wildhorse Casino in the Umatilla Indian Reservation via town of Umatilla, Hermiston, Stanfield and Pendleton on the 'Metro Connector' line. Locally they operate the 'Hermiston Area Regional Transit (HART)' in town as a local shuttle/public transportation with multiple stops.
By plane
[edit]The 2 Hermiston Airport (FAA LID: HRI)) (general aviation) is 2 mi (3.2 km) SE of downtown at 1600 E Airport Rd off of Stanfield-Umatilla Hwy (US Hwy 395). It is a city owned airport and available to private pilots in the general public. The nearest airport for commercial passenger flights is 38 mi (61 km) north in Tri-Cities (PSC IATA).
