    The JR Kotoku Line which connects Takamatsu with Tokushima passes through Higashikagawa. There are 5 stations in Higashikagawa: Nibu, Sanbonmatsu, Sanuki-Shirotori, Hiketa, and Sanuki-Aioi Stations. The Limited Express Uzushio trains all stop at Sanbonmatsu Station. Some trains also stop at Sanuki-Shirotori and Hiketa Station. Check before boarding if these are your destinations.

    • 1 Higashi-Kagawa History and Folk Museum (東かがわ市歴史民俗資料館). 09:00-17:00. Has exhibits and artifacts related to the former castle town, local culture, transportation, and daily living from different periods in the city's history. Free.
    • 2 Hiketa Castle (引田城). Hiketa Castle, along with Marugame Castle, were built to help provide protection to Takamatsu Castle from the west (Marugame Castle) and east (Hiketa Castle). The castle was abandoned after the One Castle Policy was put into effect. Little is left of the castle aside from some stone walls but in addition to being a historic site, the hike to the ruins offers great views of the harbor and the Seto Inland Sea. Free.
    • 3 Kagawa Gloves Museum (香川のてぶくろ資料館). 10:00-17:00. Has exhibits and artifacts from over 130 years of glove-making in Kagawa. Free.

    • 1 Sanshu Izutsu House (讃州井筒屋敷). 10:00-15:00. A historic building that now offers opportunities to make local specialties. You can mold and make wasanbon (和三盆), a traditional sugar sweet of eastern Kagawa and Tokushima. They also have glove decorating and leather keychain-making. Reservations must be made to participate in the activities. If you don't wish to or are unable to make the items, most can also be purchased at the second floor shop. There is also a restaurant. The building itself dates to the Edo Period when it was used to make soy sauce and sake. Wasanbon-making 30 minutes ¥750, Personalized gloves 1 hour ¥600, leather trinkets 30-60 minutes ¥400-¥600 (depending on what you want to make).

    • 1 Kamebishiya (かめびし屋). 10:00-17:00. Both an attraction and a restaurant, the Kamebishiya is the most striking of the Hiketa Historic District's buildings with its bright vermillion colored walls. As a business, they've been making and selling soy sauce since 1753. The restaurant serves soy sauce udon, using their homemade soy sauce and moromi udon, which is only available here. Even if you don't plan to eat here, it's worth entering to see the historic building, and they have a shop where you can buy their soy sauce, soy sauce chocolate snacks, and spicy soy sauce snacks.
    • 2 Portivia Passo (ポルティヴィア パッソ). An Italian restaurant serving a variety of pizza, pasta, and salads.
    • 3 Yoshimoto Shokuhin (𠮷本食品). 08:00-14:00. A popular local sanuki udon restaurant.
