The Tibetan Plateau and the surrounding mountains

High Asia, nicknamed the Roof of the World, refers to some of the highest regions of the world, centred around the Tibetan Plateau. Formed by the collision of India into Eurasia around 50 million years ago, the spectacular high-altitude region is home to the world's tallest peaks, including Mount Everest.
