History

[edit]

The Satsuma Domain is closely related to Hioki City. It was the base of the Machida family, a branch of the Shimazu family that ruled the Satsuma Domain. After 600 years of rule, it was divided into four towns after the abolition of the feudal domains and establishment of prefectures, and later merged in 2005 to form Hioki City. The former place name is Yi Ju-in, and the center is Yi Ju-in Station, which is in Hioki.

Postal Service and ATM

[edit]

Hioki is large, so there are post offices in each area. As it is located in the centers of each region, including immigrants, Higashi-Ichki, and Fukiage, you can do postal business. In particular, JP Bank ATM installed in the post office allows you to easily withdraw yen with credit or debit cards issued overseas. In addition to post offices, most of them can withdraw cash 24 hours a day through ATMs installed at major convenience stores in the city, including 7-Eleven.

Telephone

[edit]

Most major Japanese carriers (Docomo, au, Softbank) have good coverage in Hioki. However, in mountainous areas, there are cases where radio waves do not work at all.
