    Hitachi is on the JR Jōban Line, which starts at Ueno station in Tokyo and goes to Sendai.

    Hitachi has stations in the city at Ōmika, Hitachi-Taga, Hitachi, Ogitsu and Jūō from Ueno saide. If you use the limited express "Hitachi", you can get there in about 1 hour and 30 minutes to Hitachi station.

    Hitachi can be reached via highway bus "Hitachi and Takahagi Line" from Tokyo Station in about 2 hours and 30 minutes. This line requires seat reservations, which you can make at the counter at Tokyo Station or online.
