• 2.9275-75.28751 Neiva – Founded in 1612 on the fertile grounds of the Magdalena Valley by Diego de Ospina Y Medinilla, with around 350,000 inhabitants it is the department's capital.
• Gigante – Town known for its Ceiba de la libertad, a huge tree planted in a park as a symbol to the abolition of slavery in 1850.
• 3.218889-75.2183332 Villavieja – Located close to the Tatacoa Desert, this village is a good place for fossil hunting and star watching.

• 2.933333-76.0333334 Nevado del Huila National Natural Park. Created in 1997 with the objective of preserving its Andean forests and perpetual snow. This reserve hosts numerous springs and torrents that go on to become the Rio Magdalena and the Rio Cauca.  
• 2.777222-75.2552785 Rivera. The most famous aguas termales of the department and a year round temperature of 24°C makes this city worthy of being called the "medicinal town of Huila".
