    Dunes of Ilha Comprida

With 74 km of beaches, mangrove areas, archaeological sites, forests, dunes and rare bird species, Ilha Comprida is one of the last remaining areas of the Atlantic Forest and one of the last unpolluted ecosystems on the Brazilian coast. It is part of the Iguape-Paranaguá Lagoon Estuary Complex, which is one of the largest fish and crustacean nurseries in the South Atlantic. The municipality is included in an Environmental Protection Area, and is developing structural actions to become a Model City for Sustainable Tourism.

The dunes of Ilha Comprida are spread along the coast near Mar Pequeno. The dunes of Araçá, which are 7.5 km to the left of Boqueirão, reach up to ten m in height. They are also found on the way to Boqueirão Sul in large areas. Some of them end in the lagoons.
