[edit]In 2020, it was home to almost 25,000 people. The Immokalee area is heavily agricultural. It is one of the nation's major centers of tomato growing.
Get in
[edit]Immokalee is located along FL-29, which connects to Aligator Alley (I-75). The main road through Immokalee is State Road 29. Other important county roads through the region are CR 29A and CR 846.
Collier Area Transit provides local bus service and paratransit. The #5 connects to Naples, the #7 connects to Marco Island (limited trips), and the 8A circulates within the area.
Get around
[edit]Car is the best way to get around. There are two bus routes, operated by Collier Area Transit, that serve the town. It is possible to walk around the town, but there are relatively few sidewalks and traffic can be dangerous.

- 2 Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. Managed by the Audubon Society. A boardwalk of a little over 3 km (1.9 mi) length provides walking access through pine flatwoods, wet prairie, stands of pond cypress and bald cypress, and marsh ecosystems within the sanctuary. The sanctuary is a gateway site for the Great Florida Birding Trail. It is an important breeding area for the endangered wood stork and other wetland birds. It also has wintering passerines, including the painted bunting. Numerous wading bird species can be found in the wetlands of the sanctuary, including the yellow-crowned night heron, black-crowned night heron, tricolored heron, great egret, and snowy egret. Specialist birds include limpkin, barred owl and, in summer, swallow-tailed kite. American alligators and cottonmouth snakes are also inhabitants of the sanctuary.

[edit]There are some small shops along W Main Street. Immokalee Plaza has a Winn-Dixie, the town's only grocery store. Immokalee State Farmer's Market has vendors selling various types of fresh produce.
