Ittoqqortoormiit is a settlement in eastern Greenland known for its remoteness and its proximity to the Northeast Greenland National Park.

[edit]Ittoqqortoormiit has around 400 inhabitants. The area is very sparsely inhabited. There are no other settlements of over 200 inhabitants for around a thousand kilometres.

[edit]The nearest airport is 1 Nerlerit Inaat Airport (CNP IATA). which has flights to Kangerlussuaq and Nuuk, and in summertime to Reykjavik. Between the airport and Ittoqqortoormiit a helicopter transfer is needed to 2 Ittoqqortoormiit Helistop.
Cruise ships (expensive) come to the 3 Port of Ittoqqortoormiit. in the summer months.
Ittoqqortoormiit is not connected by road to any other settlements.

[edit]The town's nearest neighbour is the largest national park in the world. Don't venture too far, though, as the likelihood of rescuing you in an emergency drops exponentially the further you get from Ittoqqortoormiit. You need an expedition permit for any visit to the park.
