Jhalawar (झालावाड़ Jhālāvāṛ) is in the Kota Division of Rajasthan.

The closest passenger airports are in Bhopal, Indore and Jaipur.

• 24.580676.14671 Jhalawar City  WCR  (IR code: JLWC). A small halt-like railway station with a single platform and bare minimum amenities for tourists. There's only one express train from Sri Ganganagar. Otherwise, it is served by passenger trains from Kota.  (updated Jun 2026)

Jhalawar is on National Highway 52, which links Northern India with Southern India via the western states. The city is easily accessible from Jaipur and Indore, both of which also lie on National Highway 52.

• 24.62876.1831 Gagron Fort (गागरोन का क़िला Gāgron Kā Qilā) (just outside the city). One of six hill forts in Rajasthan that have been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. However, the hill itself is surrounded by water, being constructed on the confluence of the Ahu and Kali Sindh rivers. That's why it's often called jaldurg (जलदुर्ग), meaning "water fort". Unlike other hill forts, Gagron is off the beaten track.  (updated Jun 2026)

• The Government museum. Displaying paintings, statues and manuscripts. 
• Kolvi Buddhist caves (Kolvi village). An ancient religious complex consisting of around 50 caves. 
• 24.53576.173 Sun Temple (Bada Mandir), Jhalprapatan (near Badli Chabutra). An intact 11th century temple intricately made from red stone consisting of over a hundred pillars and several beautifully carved sculptures. Its architectural style is reminiscent of the temples at Khajuraho and the more notable sun temple in Konark.  (updated Jan 2021)
