Kannus is a town in Central Ostrobothnia.
Understand
[edit]One of the larger towns in the Central Ostrobothnia and the Southern Oulu region (making up the "river valleys" region), Kannus unsurprisingly is bisected by a river - Lestijoki. It's also comparatively accessible by public transit even from further away as the main track from Helsinki up to Lapland passes through.
Get in
[edit]By train
[edit]The Ostrobothnia track (the western one of Finland's main north-south tracks) goes through Kannus, so there are direct trains from among others Helsinki, Tampere, Turku, Seinäjoki, Kokkola, Oulu and Rovaniemi.
By car
[edit]Highway 28 connects to Kokkola from the west and Highway 4 (Finland) and Kajaani from the east. Local road 775 goes to Himanka on the coastal Highway 8.
By bus
[edit]Buses connect from Kokkola and neighbouring towns and villages.
