    The new water tower

An industrial town emerging from scratch along the railway a little more than a century ago, you won't find any old town in Kerava. However the city has its fair share of modern art and architecture.

    • 1 Sampola underpass. Passing under the railway and connecting eastern Kerava with the central parts, this underpass is decorated with light installations and paintings.
    • 2 Kerava church. A rather cubist building, built in 1963 with white tiles and concrete.
    • Many modern sculptures and statues around downtown.
    • 3 The new water tower. Doubles as a water tower and a modern artwork.
    • 4 Sinebrychoff brewery.
    • 5 Kerava prison.

    [edit]
    • The lake Tuusulanjärvi, with several artist's homes or cottages from a hundred years back turned into museums, is 5 km west of Kerava, in Tuusula and Järvenpää. Do the names Jean Sibelius, Aleksis Kivi, Juhani Aho, Venny Soldan-Brofeldt and Pekka Halonen ring any bells? You might also enjoy a walk along the lake that brought them here.
