Get in
[edit]By bus
[edit]You can reach Krynica Morska by PKS Gdańsk bus line nr 870. There are about 3-4 routes daily which take 2 hours. In summer additional lines are served by commercial carries from Elbląg.
By car
[edit]Leave for road
and go north, then turn east to road
. Road goes straight to the town, drive until you reach it. There is a drawbridge on the way which may be open in summer during the day. Timetables are available on website (Rybina and Drewnica road bridges).
By plane
[edit]Lech Wałęsa airport in Gdańsk is closest to Krynica Morska, you will have to use other modes of transport to actually reach the town.
Get around
[edit]By foot
[edit]The sea resort is not very big, so you can easily walk on foot. As most streets are pedestrianized it is a comfortable mode of transport in the town. One thing of note is that there is a large hill going through the middle of the peninsula which is about 30 metre high, which gives quite hilly vibe. As the resort is situated on the Vistula Peninsula it is hard to get lost.
By car
[edit]Leave your car on parking spot of your hotel. There is nowhere to ride unless you want to go outside the town. As most streets are pedestrianized or are narrow and usually have huge foot traffic it is hard to drive a car. Also parking spots are rather rare.
See
[edit]- 1 Boar Monument (Gdańska, opposite of Portowa street). Bronze monument of two boars with piglets in real scale. Nice place to take a photo as it is easy to pose around the boars.
- 2 Lighthouse, Żołnierzy 1B. 10:00-14:00 15:00-18:00 Apr-Jun,Sep; 09:00-19:00 Jul-Aug. Lighthouse built in 1951 used to guide vessels close to the shore. Located on site of former lighthouse built in 1895 that was destroyed during WWII. 12 zł (9 zł reduced).
Do
[edit]- 1 Beach. City beach located to the north from centre. There are several entrances, all quite crowded in general.
- The long distance footpath the Jantar Szlak (translates: Amber Way) begins in the town and runs all the way to Gdańsk along the coast, signposted with PTTK, yellow horizontal stripes on a white rectangle.
- If you feel annoyed by the crowds everywhere, try moving to the Piaski village, 15 km further. It looks more like a typical Polish village. You won't have a problem with finding accommodation, although there's lack of the posh hotels. The beaches are almost empty comparing to those in Krynica. You'll almost certainly meet wild boars wandering around. Also you can walk along the beach to the Russian border (don't try to cross it even if you can't see the soldiers!).
Buy
[edit]- All sorts of trinkets can be bought on Gdańska street (from Spacerowa to Bojerowców street)
Eat
[edit]Smoked fish (including the delicious, but expensive, eel) are available from many restaurants and roadside stalls.
