Kunchi is a town and Local Government Area in the northern part of Kano State, Nigeria. The population is largely Hausa, and the town has strong roots in traditional culture and rural life.

It serves as the administrative headquarters of the Kunchi LGA, which covers an area of about 671 km².

The name "Kunchi" is said to come from the Hausa phrase "Kun ci", meaning "you have won," possibly referencing its historical significance as a fortress.

Kunchi is located about 100 km north of Kano city. It can be reached by road through towns like Bichi and Ɗan Zabuwa. Shared taxis and minibuses operate from Kano’s motor parks to Kunchi.

The nearest airport is Malam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano. From there, you can travel by road to Kunchi.

The town is walkable. For travel to nearby areas, motorcycles (okadas) and shared taxis are the main options.
