Lamongan (Javanese: ꦭꦩꦺꦴꦁꦔꦤ꧀) is a regency in the Surabaya Metropolitan Area in East Java. It has a zoo and an Islamic art museum.

[edit]The topography in Lamongan is relatively flat with the coastal area in the north. Marine and agriculture have become economic drivers. Most people are Javanese so they speak Javanese with an understanding of Indonesian.

- 2 Monumen Kapal Van Der Wijck, Brondong. A monument was built by the Dutch East Indies government to commemorate the services of the local fishermen who saved the passengers of the SS. Van der Wijck sank in the Java sea in 1936.

- 5 Alun-Alun Lamongan, Jl. Lamongrejo, Tumenggungan. A city square with a park, Ferris wheel, grounded GAF Nomad aircraft, and also a kid's playground. You may see Masjid Agung Lamongan (Great Mosque of Lamongan) which was built in 1908.
- 6 Indonesia Islamic Art Museum, Paciran. 08:00-17:00. Some of the collections of the museum include various artifacts from the Ottoman Empire of Turkey and Mughal India (Taj Mahal). In addition, there are also Zulfikar Shamsur swords, Turkish armor, Qur'anic manuscripts, and hundreds of ceramics from the Tang, Song, Yuan, Qing, and Champa kingdoms. As well as some Gujarati cloth of India and artifacts from Indonesia.
- Wisata Bahari Lamongan (WBL). This place provides many rides that can be ridden, such as roller coasters, haunted houses, and other adrenaline-pumping rides.

[edit]- Asem-asem bandeng, a milkfish sour soup.
- Bandeng colo, a milkfish spicy soup.
- Nasi/sego boran, boran is a container made of woven bamboo for carrying food. It is rice with various special side dishes such as empuk (fried seasoned flour), pletuk (fried spiced drained rice or peanut), also ikan sili (fire eel).
- Pecel lele, a fried ikan lele (airbreathing catfish) with special sambal with lime. The dish usually sold in roadside tent stalls with animals pictures on the tent walls which are the meat in the food menu.
- Soto Lamongan, a typical Lamongan chicken soto.
- Tahu campur Lamongan, tofu with beef stew in petis (shrimp paste sauce)-base soup. It is different from other Indonesian tofu dishes which always use peanut sauce.
- Wingko Babat, a snack made from glutinuous rice flour and grated coconut from Babat district of Lamongan.
