Litoral is the most populated province in Equatorial Guinea, on the mainland. It is the only coastal province on the mainland, so it boasts many beaches.

The western border of Litoral is the coast of the Gulf of Guinea.

Litoral, like the rest of Equatorial Guinea, has a hot, humid climate with heavy rains from April to October.

• Bata Airport (BSG ^IATA)

The most reliable way to explore Litoral is by hiring a private car with a local driver. Roads outside main towns can be rough or poorly maintained, and local knowledge helps navigate safely.

Taxis are available mainly in larger towns like Bata. Taxis are informal and often shared. Agree on the fare before starting the ride.

In rural areas, motorbikes are common for short distances. Bicycles may also be used but keep in mind road conditions and safety.

Public transport is limited and irregular. Minibuses or shared taxis might operate between towns but are generally not very reliable or comfortable.

Bata has some nice colonial buildings, markets, and a promenade of more than 20 km.

• As of February 2026, Litoral is a malaria-risk area. Take prophylactics and use mosquito repellents and nets.
• Medical facilities are limited; bring necessary medications and travel insurance covering medical evacuation.
• Stick to bottled water and well-cooked food to avoid waterborne illnesses.
