Logan Lake is a small town of about 2,300 people (2021) in located in the Highland Valley of the Thompson-Nicola region of British Columbia. It is home of Highland Valley Copper, the largest open-pit copper mine in Canada.
Understand
[edit]Logan Lake was founded in the 1960s and 1970s to support copper, molybdenum and other mineral mining operations located south of the town. The Village of Logan Lake was incorporated in November 1970, and was incorporated into a district municipality in June 1983. It is surrounded by forested rolling hills punctuated by lakes and rivers and provides excellent access to the wilderness. Logan Lake proper is a small lake located on Meadow Creek Road (Highway 97D) on the east end of the town.

[edit]Logan Lake is located on 48 km (30 mi) north of Merritt and 60 km (37 mi) southwest of Kamloops on Highway 97C. It also 23 km (14 mi) west of the Coquihalla Highway (exit 336).

Provincial Parks
[edit]- 2 Lac Le Jeune Provincial Park, Lac Le Jeune Road (28 km east of Logan Lake), ☏ +1 519-858-6161, toll-free: +1-800-689-9025. Lac Le Jeune Provincial Park offers swimming, fishing, boating, hiking, biking, and nature appreciation. The campground serves as a base for recreational use at both Stake and Walloper Lakes. During the winter the area is used for cross-country skiing with no vehicle access.
- 3 Tunkwa Provincial Park, Tunkwa Lake Road (16 km north of Logan Lake). Tunkwa Lake Road, the 5,100-hectare (13,000-acre) park encompasses the man-made Tunkwa Lake and Leighton Lake. This year-round recreational area offers trout fishing, horseback riding, camping, hunting, and snowmobiling. Many ATV trails surround the park. Although the park is open year-round, full use campsites are available from May 1 until October 12. The Tunkwa and Leighton campgrounds hold 275 vehicle-accessible campsites.
- 4 Walloper Lake Provincial Park, Meadow Lake Road (24 km east of Logan Lake). Walloper Lake Provincial Park is a day use lake side facility and is equipped with a boat launch and a recently extended pier. Walloper Lake is a family fishing lake because of the readily catchable fish.
