Lower Bavaria is one of the seven administrative districts of Bavaria, in the southeast of Germany, bordering Austria and the Czech Republic. It is a land of rolling hills, historic Danube cities, and the vast wilderness of the Bavarian Forest.

[edit]Lower Bavaria is often overshadowed by Upper Bavaria, but it offers a more authentic, less crowded experience. The region is defined by the Danube (Donau) river valley and the Bavarian Forest, Central Europe's largest contiguous forest area. It is a stronghold of Bavarian tradition, famous for its world-class breweries and ornate Baroque architecture.

[edit]The closest major hub is Munich Airport. From there, direct buses (Airport-Express) run to Landshut (30 min) and Passau (2 hours).
By rail
[edit]Excellent ICE and regional connections link Passau and Landshut from Munich, Regensburg and Vienna.
By car
[edit]The A3 (Nuremberg–Passau) and A92 (Munich–Deggendorf) are the main arteries.
