    Lumpkin is the county seat of Stewart County in Georgia's Classic Heartland.

    The city was named after Wilson Lumpkin, who served two terms as governor of Georgia, and as a U.S. Representative and U.S. Senator. In 2019, it was home to about 1,300 people.

A 1,061-acre park that includes several canyons and gullies, a result in ways of poor farming practices, described as "Georgia's Little Grand Canyon". The largest canyon is "Grandfather Canyon", which is a half mile long, 300 feet wide and 150 feet deep. The park protects the largest natural collection of the rare "Plumleaf Azalea" in the world. $5 day use fee.     • 2 Florence Marina State Park, 218 Florence Rd, Omaha, +1 229 838-6870. Daily 7AM-10PM. Recreation area along the Chattahoochee River, with boating and swimming amenities. Also nearby is the Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge with bird viewing and nature study, though its main access is on the Alabama side north of Eufaula. $5 day use fee.
