[edit]One of the 7 districts of Mae Hong Son, Mae La Noi remains very traditional. Most of the population here are Shan, Lawa, or Karen Hilltribe. The town is very small with a market, ATM, hospital, post office. Most people pass through this town on the way from Mae Sariang to Mae Hong Son. The most famous thing about Mae La Noi is the Kaew Komol cave, an ancient calcite crystal cave.
Also of interest are the hill tribe villages nestled in the mountains off the main road in Mae La Noi.

[edit]- Hill Tribe Villages. There are lots of authentic and traditional hill tribe villages (Lawa and Karen) that can be found in the mountains and lowlands of Mae La Noi. The remote location means that most of these villages are still traditional and rarely see tourists passing through. As you get further into the mountains, some villages are only accessible by a 4 x 4. To find and visit these villages it is advisable to go with a local guide.
- Kaew Komol Cave. A popular attraction for Thai tourists. A short motorbike ride to the east of the town. Beautiful crystal calcite cave. Walking in and out takes about 20 minutes. No hats, coats, backpacks or cameras allowed inside. Only a flashlight which you don't necessarily need for the cave is well lighted. Worth a visit. 80 baht, includes transport to cave.
