Magas is the capital of Ingushetia.
Understand
[edit]Magas is a VERY new city (and yes the bus stops have Wi-Fi, that's how new it is). It's named after the capital of the medieval state of Alania, which is probably located either right next to it in the low mountains, or in the higher mountains way west in Karachay-Circassia (now Lower Arkhyz). It dips into the Forest Range right east of its centre, and sits on the Sølƶa (Cоьлжа) river. Next you can go to Galaşke (village on the road to the high Caucasus, low mountains but still very nice to visit with traditional Orstxoy culture), Ærşte (small remote village tucked in the mountains, with nice views of the Mærta river), or farther south to Vøvnaşke, the most iconic tower complex of all time. Also there's the Dƶæirax-Æsxi reserve near the latter.

Get around
[edit]Most scheduled public transportation services link Magas with Nazran and outlying towns, as the city doesn't have many residential areas and the vast majority of government and office employees who work in Magas commute from elsewhere.
Velocabs, public bicycles and taxis can be used to get around town.
